Guided Hike/Program - Adults, 16+
Are you interested in learning about the natural world that exists in our County Open Spaces? So many interesting plants and animals, birds, butterflies and, of course, there's the geology. Explore and learn about the many life forms that call Larimer County their homes. Join naturalist Rob Pickett as he leads these roughly 5 mile hikes throughout the year. We'll hike about 4.8 miles on various trails including Three Bar Trail and OT Trail (dirt surface, moderate to difficult). Wear layers to accommodate changing weather and temperatures, good shoes, water and snacks, binoculars, and a spirit of adventure. Participants should bring: Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) Wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes (closed-toe recommended) Water Insect repellant Lunch Snacks Clothing appropriate for the weather Backpack (to carry it all) Weather dependent.

Former supervisor of gardeners and greenhouses at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, I've spent my adult life learning about the lush eastern deciduous forests of the Appalachians and leading monthly natural history hikes for the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club. Moved to Fort Collins in 2019 and learning about this new dry habitat.
