This program is filled. You are welcome to join the waitlist and we will notify you if a space becomes available. What does it take to prepare an open space for public recreation? Join us to experience the newest addition to the Larimer County system and learn what steps the Department of Natural Resources takes to get it ready for enjoyment by the community. Tour participants will get an in-depth look at this 1,547-acre property that once served as a private ranch at the foot of the Big Thompson Canyon. A 1.5 hour walk along the old ranch road will include discussion of the lands’ wildlife, its natural features, and the steps LCDNR is taking to restore the land and prepare it for public access. This will be a walking tour along the 1.3 mile paved road (~2 miles round trip). We'll make a couple of stops along the way. There are no restrooms at this location. Carpooling is recommended as parking is limited. In order to fairly accommodate all that are interested, we will limit registration to one program date per person. Participants should bring: Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) Wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes (closed toe recommended) Water Insect repellant (optional) Snacks Clothing appropriate for the weather Backpack (to carry it all) Binoculars (optional) This is just the start of these tours. Those who cannot attend this fall's tours will have more opportunities in 2025 and beyond.
