 09/22/2022  |  08:00 AM - 02:00 PM
Horsetooth Mountain Open Space  |  Registration Required

Volunteer Opportunity - Adults, 16+

Join our trail crew to prepare the corridor and build new tread for a new multi-use trail on Horsetooth Mountain Open Space. This new trail, designed by our talented DNR trail crew, will provide a second connection from Soderberg Trailhead to the rest of the trail system creating an easy, short loop for families and novice users. It will also spread out visitors, reducing user conflict and the impact on nature. Volunteers will need to be able to hike ~1 mile carrying two trail hand tools and supplies for the day. Under the leadership and training of the trail crew, volunteers will be using/swinging tools to move dirt, dig new tread, use loppers/hand saws to remove vegetation to establish the trail corridor, carry/lift rocks, use buckets/wheelbarrows to move material, and/or any other kind of physical labor needed to create this new trail. Volunteers will need to bring: Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) Work gloves (some will be provided) Wear closed-toe shoes Water & re-fillable water bottle Insect repellant Lunch & Snacks Clothing appropriate for the weather Backpack (to carry it all) Hand sanitizer (optional) A day parking pass will be provided.
