Horsetooth Mountain Open Space  |  Registration Required

Public Program - Age Range: 10 yrs - adult

Knowledge of flowers provides us with a fuller enjoyment of our mountains, streams, and forests. No longer is appreciation of plant varieties relegated to botanists. Join Larimer County Naturalists to observe wildflowers with the help of plant field guides and learn more about what makes the habitat at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space special. See this popular open space in a new way and expand your knowledge and interest of wildflowers from basic color to propagation, wildlife food, plant survival and much more. This program is best suited for beginner wildflower enthusiasts; those just starting on their journey of wildflower appreciation. We'll hike along Horsetooth Falls Trail (moderate difficulty) towards the falls and go as far as time and the group's comfort level permits. Participants should plan to hike about 2 miles. Bring water and a notepad if you wish to take notes. You'll meet at the main trailhead for Horsetooth Mountain Open Space on County Road 38E. Participants should bring: Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) Wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes (closed-toe recommended) Water Insect repellant Snacks Clothing appropriate for the weather Backpack (to carry it all) Weather dependent.
