Experiencing Awe in Nature: Boosting your Physical and Mental Health

 09/26/2026  |  10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Hermit Park Open Space  |  Registration Required

Guided Hike/Program - Adults, 16+

Join us for a guided outdoor experience that invites participants to slow down, reconnect with wonder, and engage more fully with the natural world. Through gentle walking, sensory awareness, and simple, reflective practices, participants learn how brief moments of awe can calm the nervous system, support well-being, and foster a sense of connection. Participants will walk away with actionable, experiential practices they can repeat on your own to provoke awe and stimulate the mental and physical benefits. Participants will be meeting at the Kruger Rock Picnic Pavilion. Program is free, but this location requires a $10 day use fee if you do not already have a yearly entrance permit; if you would like to join without paying the fee, you can check out a Discover Pack from a local library or one of our offices. Parking permits and maps can be picked up at the welcome center upon arrival. There is public Wi-Fi and service at the entrance, but there is no cell service in the park. Bathrooms and water are available at the Pavilion. Dress in layers for cool fall mountain temperatures (hats, gloves, jacket, etc.). Participants should bring: • Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) • Wear comfortable walking shoes (closed-toe recommended) • Water • Snacks • Clothing appropriate for the weather Weather dependent.
