Volunteer Litter Cleanup - Mixed Ages
Join us in keeping our natural spaces beautiful, sustainable, and litter free! Celebrate Earth Day with us by picking up and packing out litter. Meet at the Upper Sunrise Day Use Area on the east shore of Horsetooth Reservoir (approximate address is 471 N. County Rd. 23). Sign-In will begin around 8:30am with a start time of 9am. Volunteers will be given an important safety talk before handing out supplies and heading out to nearby trails and other day use areas along the reservoir to remove unsightly litter from the land. Carpooling is encouraged! A shuttle from town will meet at Spring Canyon Park for those without their own transportation. This activity is suitable for all ages (youth under 16 yrs. must be accompanied by an adult). Volunteers will need to be able to walk over potentially uneven terrain, bend, stoop, and grasp. Volunteers will need to bring: Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) Work gloves (some will be provided) Wear closed-toe shoes Water & re-fillable water bottle Insect repellant Snacks Clothing appropriate for the weather Backpack (to carry it all) Hand sanitizer (optional) A day parking pass & litter cleanup supplies will be provided.

I'm a Fort Collins native (I know...it's rare). Studied Outdoor Rec at CSU and taught skiing, kayaking (pretty much everything related to outdoor recreation), at Colorado Mtn College near Aspen for a few years - then to Utah to manage a sporting goods store (taught skiing/tennis). Decided to change things up a bit and moved back to Colorado where I studied business-finance, Supply Chain Mgmt. graduate degree. Retired from HP several years ago.
