Volunteer Trail Project - Adults, 16+

Held annually on the 4th Saturday in September for more than 30 years, National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is one of the nation's largest single days of service and celebration for public lands. This year's theme, "Caring for our Shared America," calls on all of us to show up for the parks, trails, forests, and waterways we hold in common. National Public Lands Day is a collective act of care that brings communities together and strengthens our shared American story. Help our trail crew maintain a high-visitation trail that sees a lot of use over the spring, summer, and fall. Celebrate National Public Lands Day with us by assisting Larimer County Natural Resources Trail Crew to improve visitor experience and prevent erosion on the Blue Sky Trail. Volunteers will clear vegetation out of the trail corridor using loppers and remove debris from rolling grade dips with McLeod tools, picks, and shovels over around 2-3 miles. Volunteers must be at least 16 to participate; a parent/guardian must sign a Minor Liability Release form on behalf of any minors in their party. Volunteers will need to be able to hike <1 mile carrying trail hand tools and supplies for the day. They will be using/swinging tools to move dirt, dig and create drainage features, use loppers/hand saws to remove vegetation, and/or any other kind of physical labor needed to build and improve the trail. Volunteers MUST wear close toed shoes. Volunteers will need to bring: Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) Work gloves (some will be provided) Wear closed-toe shoes Water & re-fillable water bottle Insect repellant Snacks Clothing appropriate for the weather Backpack (to carry it all) Hand sanitizer (optional) A day parking pass will be provided.
