Guided Hike/Program - Mixed Ages
New to birding? This is the program for you! We'll walk through how to use binoculars and field guides, learn about bird ID, and discover how birding can contribute to science! Explore the birds of summer at Lions Open Space and learn what they're up to this time of year. Hike 1-ish miles with Larimer County Education and Volunteer Specialist, Ellen Harris, along the Poudre River trail to learn about bird identification, habitat, and more. This activity is rated: Easy (slow pace, paved and gravel trails with very little elevation change). Challenges: some unpaved trails, heat. Binoculars are highly recommended if you have them, a few pairs will be available to borrow. Best for participants 10 years and older. Program is free, but registration is required. Participants should bring: Binoculars, if you have them Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) Wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes (closed-toe recommended) Water Insect repellant (optional) Snacks Clothing appropriate for the weather Backpack (to carry it all)
