Guided Hike/Program - Adults, 16+

Are you interested in learning about the natural world that exists in our County Open Spaces? So many interesting plants and animals, birds, butterflies and, of course, there is the geology. Explore and learn about the many life forms that call Larimer County their homes. Eagles’ Nest has been home to golden eagles for over 100 years. This open space, along the North Fork of the Cache La Poudre River, has tremendous views of the Laramie Foothills. Mountain mahogany foothills interspersed with rabbitbrush and ponderosa pine provide diverse habitat for deer, elk, coyote, mountain lion, black bear, and small mammals. Join naturalist Rob Pickett and learn about the natural history and geology of this unique habitat. Meet at the Eagle's Nest parking lot, outside of Livermore. Program is free, and you do not need a park entrance fee for this open space. Hike: You will be hiking The 3-Bar Trail, 3.4-mile roundtrip loop which is classified as a moderately easy trail. • Limited steep hills, few obstacles and uneven surfaces • Acceptable for novice users • No loose footing or difficult terrain, all dirt paths and some stairs Participants should bring: • Binoculars, if you have them • Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) • Wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes (closed-toe recommended) • Water • Insect repellant • Snacks • Clothing appropriate for the weather • Backpack (to carry it all) Weather dependent.
